“You deserve a simpler life Tonks,” Remus said, bowing his head. “A life without a fatal interruption every full moon. A life where you can have children, and a house, and find a man who has a job and hasn’t lost so much….a man who isn’t so broken.”
She watched him from the other side of the room. He stared down at the floor, his fingers scratching at the skin of his arm as if it was fur. It was a habit of his, and she knew that in another minute he would draw blood.
“Maybe,” she said softly, her eyes never leaving him. Before he could even flinch she added, her voice firm, “But I don’t want it.”
